Tuesday's Teaser

Similar to last week's teaser, a correct solution involves a number of algebra skills. Treat them like fractions since that's what they are. Use your factoring and simplifying tools and you should be successful. Solutions with work included by Friday evening.  Good Luck.

Class Summary: April 30, 2014

Only 40 minutes for class today, so we'll look ahead to both our final exam and our soon to be re-take of the last quadratic formula test.  A variety of practice problems to work through, but no class work.  Don't forget about this week's Khan Academy. Topics were posted earlier this week.

Quadratic Formula Test Results

Here's the results (except for 2nd period) of our last test.

We're going to do this test again soon.  I know you care about your grades, but I don't. I care about what you learn; what you know now that you didn't before.

 Grades are a make-believe number that nobody cares about ever, once you leave school. Knowledge is a part of who you are. It helps you make better decisions and live a more fulfilling life. So...we'll take this test again, and average the two grades scores.

Khan Academy Topics for May 5, 2014

Start early, finish early.
Here they are:

* Simplifying Radicals 1

* Simplifying Radicals 2

* Adding & Subtracting Radicals

As usual, credit is given for completed topics. These are due by 9:00 pm on May 5th.

Enjoy your day off!

And here's why...

Thanks Tapah. See you Wednesday.

Good Friday Bonus Bonanza

Similar to a previous teaser, and definitely do-able, today's bonus combines factoring and rational expressions. Email answer with work included, or hand in by the end of school on the day named after the Anglo Saxon god Odin, guider of souls after death.

Factoring Polynomials Test Results

More A's on this test than any other. Get the good news here.

Tuesday's Teaser

If you like getting teased with a hammer, this one's for you. In keeping with our current look at solving quadratic equations, today's, er..challenge shall we say, ultimately requires you to solve the quadratic (Hint: There are three solutions).

Submit your answer, work included, before the end of the day named after the Norse goddess of love, Fredja.

Class Summary: March 31, 2014

Test day today. Before that, however, we practiced a more efficient method of solving trinomials with a leading coefficient > 1. We also compared and contrasted linear and quadratic equations and their graphs.  Lots of important infomation in the short slideshow today, as we will be using all of today's concepts going forward.
