Tuesday's Triple Teaser Treat!!
*We're serving up a triple scoop of bonus points this week. Thirty in all, and well deserved for those meeting the challenge. There's no math involved, but a correct solution requires the same skills necessary to be successful in math: logic, organization, a willingness to try different methods, and a desire to see the problem through.
No tricks or 'gotchas', the TTTT is found here.
* Waffle Cone not included

Final Exam Scores for Your Viewing Pleasure
apologies for the wait.....
Scores for Part I of the Final (10 questions) and Part II (5 questions) are available. Part I is worth two-thirds of your grade, and part II is worth the other third. But I don't have to tell you guys that, you're algebra students!!

Class Summary: January 21, 2014
Our last class before the final exam. We do some last minute reviewing, and refresh ourselves with parallel and perpendicular lines. After the reviewing, we focus on applying linear functions; that is, solving real problems with linear functions.
Today's class work can be found here.

Khan Academy: Week of January 20-27, 2014
Here they are... Work on them early as you may have questions. We can go over specific problems in class if you bring them in.
1. Graphing Linear Equations
2. Interpreting & Finding Intercepts of Linear Functions
3. Interpreting graphs of Linear and Non-Linear Functions
These topics are due by 7:00 pm on Monday, January 27, (not the usual Sunday deadline.)

Class Summary: January 17, 2014
We continue our work on parallel and perpendicular lines. Our class work reviewed various aspects of the unit covered so far.
Class Summary: January 16, 2014
Today we focus on parallel and perpendicular lines. Our discussion includes their definition and relationship to each other. The class work can be found here.

Class Summary: January 13, 2014
We review our coverage of the coordinate unit so far. Sample questions from our test tomorrow are included as well as practice questions involving functions, slope, intercepts, and writing equations.
Today's class work is here.

Class Summary: January 10, 2014
We look at the relationship between the point-slope formula and the slope-intercept. That is, when you begin writing the first formula, your solution is the second formula. Review the slideshow for complete coverage of this topic.

Ultimate Guide to the Coordinate Plane
Everything you'll ever need to know about linear equations and their graphs. Download the slideshow, review it, answer the practice questions, and you'll be an expert as well.
Class Summary: January 9, 2014
We continue our look at slope and how it shapes the graph. We also spend a bit of time watching real events and graphing the resulting movement. Class work is here.
Class Summary: January 8, 2014
We begin the day with a discussion about the relationship between linear equations and their graphs. Our discussion includes two formulas: The standard form of a linear equation, and the slope-intercept form. We look closely at intercepts and their role in constructing a graph.
Class Summary: January 7, 2014
Function notation is the topic for today. Additionally, we will be using our warm up questions as review for the first semester final exam later this month. Review the slideshow, and be sure to download the class work if you haven't done so already.

Class Summary: January 6, 2014
Welcome back to school. We are beginning our unit on the coordinate plane. Specifically, we will begin with functions; what they are, what they're used for, and how to tell if you're actually working with one.

Tuesday's Teaser, 2014 Edition
Grandma made a batch of her chocolate chip cookies for the
holidays. While no one was looking, you snuck in and ate one-third of
them. Not having your sweet tooth
completely satisfied, you later went to the kitchen and ate one-fourth of
the remaining cookies, leaving only nine for everyone else.
How many cookies were there to begin with?
