Twas the day before the day before Thanksgiving. We feasted on Fractions, Decimals, and Percent before devouring a simplification and GCF test. Get all the details below.
From yesterday's properties, we made a smooth transition into algebraic proofs. Please see the slideshow for more information. Class work for today is here and here.
Today we began our unit on number properties and proofs. Please view the slideshow for more detailed information. The class work can be found here and here.
Alright, so it's not really a teaser this week. It's more like the bully down the block taunting you with cries of "Ha Ha, you can't solve me"
But, I think you can. You are not going to do anything different from what we've been practicing in class. Give yourself lots of scratchpaper space, keep your head about you, and take it one step at a time.
Correct solutions, emailed before Monday, will receive 10 bonus points. But wait, there's more! For this weekend only, we'll double the bonus points. That's right, you get 20 bonus points, a spot on the new v6math teaser hall of fame page, and my upmost respect.*
*Only one entry per person. (Make it count). Correct answer cannot be divulged until contest ends.
After a week off, we're back to the Academy. As always, the topics are to be mastered (5 correct in a row) before 7:00 pm Sunday, November 10th. Drum roll please.....
* Compound Inequalities
* Linear Equations & Inequalities * Solving Rational Equations 1
We'll be having our final exam on Thursday, November 7. The test will focus on equations and inequalities. If you can solve these, then you know the order of operations, can work with positive and negative numbers and fractions. As a result, there won't be any questions specifically on these topics.
A bonus teaser to help pass some of the time. Here we go:
You have a 16 oz. glass of water (lemon optional). Every time you drink, you consume half of the remaining water in the glass. At this rate, how many times can you drink before the water is gone?
Email your answer by 7:00 pm Monday for your extra credit.
