Textbooks & Workbooks for Download
To All Students:
I encourage everyone to download at least one textbook and one workbook. They are available on the right side bar. The first text listed is the one I am using for the lessons we are doing. I am going to start listing the pages from the text for each lesson we do in class. Also, there are two workbooks which contain most of our classwork handouts. I will also be listing the workbook topics on this blog. If you are absent, you can get the text and workbook pages here. Simply download both the book and the workbooks, and you have all the material you need. If you need additional help, you can also do the exercises or do additional reading from the text.
The workbook pages may not be the exact ones we do in class, but they will cover the same concept, which is the important part.
Thursday's work comes from pages 12-18 in the text.

Have you seen the new calculator from Staples? Shaped like a controller, because everyone knows its more fun to do math if you pretend you're doing a finishing combo. My take? FAIL!

Extra Credit Time
It's time for some bonus points, a little something extra to make sure you get that good grade you deserve.
The first person to email me (no comment responses accepted) the correct answer receives 10 additional points.
This country is known by many as the Earthquake Capital of the World. Not because they have the most earthquakes, but because they have many of the strongest quakes ever recorded. What country am I?

Khan Academy Topics for September
Mastery Practice Deadlines & Grading Procedures
Since the Khan Academy Mastery Practice determines 20% of your grade, it is important that you understand the test deadlines and how your grades are calculated.
Below you will find a weekly list of topics to be completed before 7:00 pm on the date given. All deadlines are on Saturday evenings, in order to give you an extra full day to complete them. Your grades will be determined as follows:
A: Mastery achieved before deadline: 100% grade for that topic.
B: Mastery not achieved by deadline: Because the more you practice anything, the better you will become, you will receive 2 points for each question you answer, correct or not. Your maximum grade (if you answer 35 or more questions) will be 70%. If you were to answer 35 questions but not answer 10 in a row correctly, you will receive a grade of 70%. If you attempt to answer no questions, your grade will be 0%. If you do 10 problems and get 9 correct, your score will be 20%.
C: Mastery achieved within 5 days after the deadline: In this case, your grade for mastery will be 80%. This grade is only for those who achieve mastery within 5 days of the deadline. After 5 days, the grades are final for that
Here is the list of Tests and their Deadlines for the month of September:
